Renew Earth Sweat Shop is back for Season 3! Post-Museum X Veronyka Lau continue to bring awareness to the growing issue of fashion waste with several new partners. In 2021 alone, Singapore produced over 189,000 tonnes of fashion waste. By creating micro-community spaces for people to gather to learn, to sew and upcycle together, Renew Earth Sweat Shop aims to galvanise a community to confront this huge problem. Beginning with the over-500kg of unwanted clothes amassed from swap shops, thrift stores, and green movement organisations, Season 3 will put waste towards a different and meaningful purpose.

Renew Earth Sweat Shop is a community and participatory art project started in 2020 in response to the environmental impact and labour conditions linked to the global fashion industry.

Renew Earth Sweat Shop Season 3 is a 8-month programme partnering with communities and institutions from June 2022 to February 2023.

More info:
In the first two editions, we partnered with HEARTH art space by Arts Outreach and Temasek Shopshouse as venue partners to bring the Renew Earth Sweatshop experience to members of the public and communities in education, environment, art, design, fashion business and social welfare.

In Season 3, we aim to extend our outreach into more schools and public spaces. We are now partnering NAFA and Public Libraries Artseen, and are looking out for more partners. Season 3 is partially funded by SG Eco Fund.

Since Season 1, we have started to document an eco-system around the issue of textile waste and explored new ideas and innovations in sustainable design in tackling over 300 kg of fashion waste.

For Season 3, we have set ourselves the target of dealing with and transforming 500 kg of fashion waste and are actively seeking to deepen connections with incubators, start-ups, businesses, educational institutions and communities to grow more ideas and seed more sustainable endeavours.

Renew Earth Sweat Shop was featured in Zaobao, Ch8 8world, AsiaOne, The Homeground Asia, Plural Art, Time Out, Peony Zine, Singapore Motherhood, The Asian Parent and The Beau Life.

Fashion sustainability eco-system in SG

Mapping of Fashion Sustainability in SG

What can you do?

We welcome volunteers and other inputs into mapping this ecosystem of change. Contact us if you wish to contribute.

Why map?

We mapped the sustainable fashion ecosystem in Singapore. To know what we can bring to this movement, we should know as much as we can with this movement.

What are we mapping?

This map is an ongoing map marking the relationships between various change-makers in sustainable fashion, from independent artists to non-profit organisations and educational institutions. Through this map, you can find out how to get involved, which events to participate, how to learn more about sustainability in fashion, which films to watch, which projects to follow, which brands to buy from.

About Us

Post-Museum is an independent cultural and social space in Singapore which aims to encourage and support a thinking and pro-active community. It is an open platform for examining contemporary life, promoting the arts and connecting people. In addition to their events and projects, they also curate, research and collaborate with a network of social actors and cultural workers.

Veronyka Lau is an English Lit grad, social and animal welfare advocate, martial artist turned artist. Arriving into art after activism, her works often explore feminine power and its mercurial quality for conveyance and resistance in a climate of crisis and decline. She is a co-curator for a performance art collective Wu Wei.
